Posted on Thursday, 29 March 2012 in School Spotlight

Here's a round-up of some of the accomplishments from our partner schools over the last week.

The Bainbridge High School Interact Club participated in an effort with Bainbridge Rotary Club and the Bainbridge College Roteract to compile quart-sized food bags that have the potential to feed over 7,500 people.

Bradwell Institute's Lawrence Murray came in 1st in the Georgia advertising design competition held at the Heidelberg USA hosted annual Georgia SkillsUSA Training Day.

Houston County schools (Houston County High, Northside High, Warner Robins High) competed in the 1AAAA regional literary competition, with Houston County High winning.  At the state 1AAAA competition, Northside High came in 2nd.

Prom Checklist

Posted on Thursday, 22 March 2012 in General

For all of us at BPI and for thousands of high school students across the country, March and April mean one thing:  Prom.

Between school, clubs, sports, work, college visits, hanging out, and the million other things that you have going on, it can be easy to let something prom-related slip through the cracks.  Here's a quick guideline for what you should be doing when to make sure you have a night to remember for the rest of your life.

One Month Away

One month out, you should finalize what you're going to wear and know where you're going to get it from (hint: if you're going to multiple proms, consider borrowing a dress from a friend to avoid wearing the same thing in all your pictures). If you and your date are exchanging flowers, make sure to order them now.  Make a hair appointment (guys, consider getting a haircut about two weeks before prom for a more natural look).

One-to-Two Weeks Away

You're going to be on your feet all night, so two weeks out, take the chance to break in your shoes. Sure, they look great with the dress, but can they go the distance?  Now's your chance to find out before they have the chance to crumble beneath you on the dance floor.

Finalize any outstanding details, and confirm your appointments.  Make sure that whoever in your group was supposed to schedule the restaurant really did so, and make sure that your transportation is lined up.  Also, if you have after-prom plans, make sure that all the details for that are set-up as well.

Day Before

Make an emergency kit. Anything you might need or want during the prom and surrounding festivities (headache medicine, nail polish, lip balm, cell phone charger) goes into the kit.  Make sure it's compact enough to fit in a purse or inner-tux pocket, but these items can save you in a pinch.

Day of Prom

Have a great time, come get your picture taken, dance until the sun comes up.  Stay safe, and don't drink and drive.

From all of us at BPI Photography, we hope you have a fantastic prom, and we hope this prom checklist has helped to take some of the stress off of this fabulous night.

Welcome to BPI Photography

Posted on Thursday, 15 March 2012 in General

Welcome to BPI Photography's blog.  For those of you unfamiliar with our business, we are a school photography studio servicing over 200 schools in the state of Georgia.  We do everything from a child's first Kindergarten class portrait to the graduation handshake image (and everything in between).  It's an honor to be a part of so many great events in the lives of Georgia students, and the opportunity is something we never take for granted.

So, why a blog?  Well, like every small business in the world today, we've been hearing about the importance of social media.  But, we don't want to just write a weekly commercial.  Don't get us wrong; we love your business, and we have a number of avenues online that you can order your images through.  But, we thought we'd take a different road at first.

We want to use this blog to reach out into our school communities.  We want to share the awesome things that are going on at our partner schools.  We want to share some of our tips for how to get the best out of your school years (and sure...getting the best out of your school photos, too!).

Thanks for checking us out, and I hope we see you around here again soon!  Please leave us a comment if there's anything specific you want to see, or if you just want to say "Hi."

Mack F.
Webmaster, BPI
